Diagnostics / Infrastructure

We have the following facilities:

• Separate operating room
• Own laboratory for hematological and blood chemical examinations within minutes. Especially in case of emergency, this allows for faster diagnostic findings, and thus a faster and, above all, more targeted diagnosis and treatment.
• State-of-the-art digital X-ray equipment with high-frequency technology and organ automation for increased image quality and reduction of the number of images.

**Surgery

According to the latest knowledge of veterinary medicine We strive to treat our patients according to the latest knowledge of veterinary medicine. Thus, we are able to perform many of today's possible treatments and surgeries "in house".
We have the possibility and the infrastructure to perform complex bone and soft tissue surgeries in addition to the usual procedures (castrations, vasectomies, etc.). Our specialties include osteosynthesis and knee orthopedics, especially the surgical treatment of cruciate ligament rupture with the TTA method, as well as the surgical correction of patellar luxation.
In order to be able to help your protégé with almost all problems on the spot, renowned and very experienced specialists come to us if necessary to perform special operations (e.g. artificial hip joints). This way you can save yourself and your pet long travel times, double examinations and the stress of being in a foreign place. Likewise we remain your contact person in all situations and during 24h on all days of the year.
In order to protect the animals, the anesthesia for dogs is always initiated in the presence of the owner. This way the animals have less stress and fear even after the operation. During the operations, the animals are constantly monitored by trained anesthesia assistants by means of apparative monitoring in order to be able to arrange the anesthesia as gently as possible.

New gentler castration techniques for bitches. After further training in the USA, we now only use this new technique. This has many advantages for your bitch: Shorter surgery time, less postop. Shorter operation time, less postoperative pain and a much smaller operation wound, which is about the same size as with the endoscopic technique. In addition, in contrast to endoscopy, this can also be used for simultaneous uterus removal. Ask us without obligation if you would like to know more about it

Endoscopic castration

We can now also offer you the endoscopic castration technique. However, this method is limited to bitches before their first heat. We will be happy to inform you in detail about this new and very gentle method.

We are glad that we can count on the cooperation of Dr.med.vet Nico Kipfer (www.tierarztkipfer.ch) for very special surgeries. He runs his own company performing surgeries in external surgeries and clinics. Previously, he worked at the surgical clinic at the Zurich Animal Hospital. Dr. Kipfer is a veterinarian with internationally recognized training and title as a specialized surgeon.

As a hip specialist, we also involve Dr.med.vet Thomas Guerrero, also a specialized surgeon with appropriate training. Dr. Guerrero is certainly one of the most experienced capacities in this field. He was and still is significantly involved in the development of the corresponding implants. Until recently, he was employed as a senior assistant at the Animal Hospital in Zurich.

Hospitalization Out of consideration for the animals, it is our endeavor to keep them in our clinic for as short a time as possible.
We now have a spacious separate room that offers the animals peace and quiet and enough space to feel comfortable. This way we can accommodate several animals at the same time without them disturbing each other, even if needed over several days during e.g. intensive medical treatments.
Unfortunately, there are also always abandoned animals that find a temporary home and care with us until we have placed them in a good place.

Dispensing of medicines We carry an extensive assortment of medications for small animal medicine. New medications are made available to our patients after studying the possibilities.
Not available, urgently needed medicines, we can procure within shortest time. Also in this area further education is indispensable in order to be able to follow the progress.
For the large animals we also have in our fully equipped vehicles the most efficient and newest medicines for the application at the patient and for the delivery to the animal owner according to the legal regulations (health law). Our great effort is to take into account changing efficacies and resistance situations and to keep our assortment up to date.

Food advice Of the many good animal feed products available on the market, we carry products from various suppliers. These products allow us to feed each animal individually with good acceptance according to age, size, load and other information optimally. With the special "Prescription-Diet" lines we also have the possibility to treat various metabolic or organ diseases (e.g. heart, kidney, liver, urinary stones) dietary very effectively.
We carry selected products from e.g. Royal Canin, Robur and others, which are adapted to the special needs of your pet.

Farewell Like all earthly things, an animal's life lasts only a limited time. It is a great need for us, when this moment has come, to have time for your pet and you as the owner. At the same time, the animal should not feel pain or fear. It should also be possible for you to say goodbye to your animal, which has lived with you for years as a family member, quietly and alone.
If you wish, you can have your pet cremated. We organize the whole procedure for you in cooperation with the animal crematorium Schafisheim (www.tierkrematorium-schweiz.ch) or a provider of your choice.

Home and zoo animals. We ourselves have a lot of experience in the treatment of these animal species. If necessary, we can call in outside specialists. Likewise, we have the specific facilities and equipment available at our facility.

Large animals / horses We drive with two fully equipped all-terrain vehicles to our large animal and horse customers in and outside the canton of Glarus. We carry out all current examinations, treatments and interventions in this field on site. A generous and complete equipment allows us to treat emergencies at any time.
We deal among other things with:

• Gynecological examinations in horses and cattle (including ultrasound)
• Udder health (incl. own milk laboratory for bact. examinations)
