Berset Marie (Les Sciernes-d'Albeuve)

My name is Marie Berset and I'm an animal osteopath. Since I was very young, I've had a passion for animals. When people around me asked me: "So, what do you want to be when you grow up?", I answered without hesitation: "Animal care! In my opinion, a day without their company is a day lost.

I've been riding for several years now, and I'm constantly learning in this field, trying out all kinds of disciplines: harnessing, ground work, free-riding, trail riding, ski-joering, ... I have a classic rider's license and a driving license.

I also have a lot of admiration for the agricultural world. My parents were heifer-keepers on a mountain pasture for 10 years. During those years, I spent all my summer vacations with them, and that experience taught me a lot. Since then, I've stayed very close to farming, which I'm passionate about.

I discovered a real passion when I trained in animal welfare, and I wouldn't change my profession for anything in the world.

My vision of osteopathy...

Each patient is unique, and so is each session. Osteopathy, as I see it, is a large toolbox containing a multitude of techniques designed to relieve the animal. In my opinion, the animal's body is the only one that knows what it needs, so listening and respecting the limits of each individual is essential. A quote close to my heart that sums up my approach to osteopathy is: "I think the most important piece of advice I could give to the osteopathic student and practitioner who opposes the old theories and uses his head as the star of reason, is this: let him see the body as a well-organized brotherhood of workers. The practitioner's job is to maintain peace and harmony throughout the brotherhood. He who realizes the great importance of this truth and puts it into practice is a trustworthy osteopath." A.T.
